There was seemingly no end to the amount of incredible storytelling on TV this year.
The thing is: who the hell can watch all of that television? More importantly, is it all worth it? There are definitely more binging options than there are hours in the day. We've done the hard work for you, with hopes that you can spend your precious free time watching quality TV instead of crap.
The staff here at Nateflix presents our favorite TV series of 2017.

San Junipero (Black Mirror)
SEASON 3
In a seaside town in 1987, a shy young woman and an outgoing party girl strike up a powerful bond that seems to defy the laws of space and time. The sci-fi romance was the breakout episode of Black Mirror’s third season for many reasons: superlative performances from stars Mackenzie Davis and Gugu Mbatha-Raw; perfectly executed ’80s nostalgia; a fascinating hypothetical about the ethics and opportunities of technologically assisted immortality.
3.

Better Things
Season 2
In a terrific year for television, the second season of Pamela Adlon's Better Things has been perhaps the most terrific series out there. Directing every episode and grounding its complex emotional beats through a rock-solid, thought-through performance, Adlon comes as close to a pure auteur as TV gets. That her story is one imbued with both sadness and light makes Better Things one of television’s very best shows—in any genre.
Standout Episode: S02 E09 - "White Rock"
2.

The Leftovers
SEASON 3
A one-of-a-kind, utterly committed work of art and philosophy, the series finale proved itself a powerful statement about humanity. If it had a message, it was that grief creates madness but also can inspire love, that inner peace lies somewhere between faith and reason, and that the human search for meaning can result in unthinkable betrayal and incredible forgiveness. The devestating final season cements its status as one of televisions all-time greats.
Standout Episode: S03 E08 - "The Book of Nora"
1.

Halt and Catch Fire
SEASON 4
When HaCF premiered three years ago, the tech-focused drama was easy to dismiss. It seemed like a garden-variety Mad Men riff, stocked with familiar characters and an unsexy premise—a bunch of geeks trying (and inevitably failing) to invent the future. But as the series enters its fourth and final season, those who initially wrote it off have had the pleasure of seeing themselves proven wrong. The show’s tech backdrop is merely a casing for its real engine: complex, nuanced, and strikingly human relationships. The character-driven drama culminates in an optimistic ode to the early internet age that's bound to stand the test of time. The most underrated show on television was something truly special, even if a lot of viewers never came to realize it.
Standout Episode: S04 E09 - "The Search" + E10 - "Ten of Swords"
